What is Sublimation Iron-on-Ink?

It is a new & fun craft ink that allows you to create a sublimation design on standard copy paper that can then be heat transferred sublimation-ready blanks. Once the project is transferred to the blank, it is lifetime permanent. Before Artesprix, you would need a fancy printer to experience this level of personalization, but not anymore! Between their markers, stamp pads, and paints, you will never run out of ideas, I haven't!

Supplies:

Sublimation Acrylic Lightening Medium - White
Sublimation Acrylic Paint - Black, Red, Blue
Sublimation Marker, Fine Tip - Black
Protective Project Mat
Sequin Pillow Case
Heat tape
Protective paper
DecoArt Stencil - Succulent
Computer Paper

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: This is a big blank, so instead of creating a template, cover a 12x12" piece of paper with a thin layer of Sublimation Acrylic Lightening Medium.

Step 2: Drop a line of paint from the top to the bottom of the paper. Start with the lightest color and move down to the darkest color.

Step 3: Use a large paint brush to blend paint, keeping the gradient from light to dark. Don’t overmix the paint.

Step 4: After your paint is dry, trace Succulent stencil with Fine Tip Black Sublimation Marker.

Step 5: Repeat/trace the pattern a total of 3 times on different sections of the gradient.

Step 6: Cut traced Succulent images out, leaving a thin border around the image.

Step 7: Obtain a new piece of paper large enough to cover the pillow case (16x16”).

Pro Tip: If you don't have paper 16x16" or larger, tape smaller pieces of paper together with heat tape, but keep the heat tape away from any designs.

Step 8: Use a small dot of glue to adhere Succulent images onto the 16x16” piece of paper.

Step 9: Thin down Black Sublimation Acrylic paint with water and apply paint splatters to the Succulent element with a fan brush.

Step 10: Before we set everything up for transfer, ensure all the sequins on your pillow case are positioned with the white side showing.

Step 11: Place design face-down onto white sequins and secure with heat tape.

Step 12: Make a "Sublimation Sandwich" by placing the Sequin Pillow Case between two pieces of protective paper.

Step 13: Heat set at 400℉ for 60 seconds.

Step 14: After heat set, take a peek at the design to ensure transfer was successful (do not remove tape until transfer is confirmed). Re-heat if needed.

Step 15: Remove paper to reveal the transferred image. Allow to cool and add a standard 16x16" pillow insert.
