Hey everyone, Sarah here! I am so excited about this project. As you may know I’m headed to Creativation with Artesprix. So this project is part of my “to do” list for that trip. I needed a zip case to hold all the stencil brushes I will be using while at Creativation. Since Creativation is an “art based” convention and the zip case will hold my art supplies, I decided on an art theme.
What are Artesprix Sublimation Markers?
Artesprix Sublimation Markers so easy to use. You just pick one up and start drawing. The best part is you do not need any fancy or expensive equipment. Just plain copy paper, an iron or heat press, and a blank made for sublimation. But keep in mind that not all sublimation blanks are created equal, some are better quality than others. That’s why I love using Artesprix blanks. I know they are high quality and have been tested by Artesprix to use with their products.
Materials:
Various art themed stamps
We R Memory Keepers Marker Airbrush
Copy Paper
Heat press or Iron
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Trace your blank onto plain copy paper using a pencil to create your template.
Step 2: Using stamps and black stamp pad, stamp your paper where you want the designs located. Remember that since this is sublimation what you put on the right, will actually be on the left side of your blank after you press.
Step 3: After you are done stamping, color in your images with your markers. This is always my favorite part.
Step 4: Once I was done coloring, I used my Marker Airbrush to spray color around my stamps to fill in any space on the zip case.
Step 5: Set your heat source to 400°F.
Step 6: Position and secure your blank to the design and tape it in place using heat resistant tape.
Step 7: Once it’s taped in place, create your sublimation sandwich. A sublimation sandwich is made up of a layer of protective paper, your blank with the design secured to it, and another piece of protective paper. The second piece is particularly important with this blank to ensure the other side stays white and clean.
Step 8: Once your heat source reaches temperature, place the sublimation sandwich on your press with the copy paper on the top side. Press your zip case for 45 seconds. When pressing the zip case, make sure that the zipper is not under the heat press. You do not want the press to affect the functionality of the zipper.
Step 9: When the time is up, do a peek test to make sure you got a good transfer. If you got a good transfer, use heat gloves to move the case to a heat resistant surface. I use my Artesprix Protective Project mat.
Step 10: Once cooled enough to touch, remove the copy paper and heat tape.
These zip cases have so many uses. I already have plans to make more of them.
